I think at one point or another we have all sought after an idealistic life or wished we could drift away and escape reality. The saying ‘the grass is greener on the other side‘ is a phrase I am sure we are all familiar with, but how true is it? That green-eyed monster within us is very quick to paint a picture of something better over on the other side that we are dying to seize. However, I was fortunate enough to learn from a very early age that all that glitters is not gold.
In a generation where everything is showcased via social media, it’s easy to allow comparison to be the thief of joy. Our life suddenly appears to be mundane compared to those rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Kardashian’s over the weekend, or the Instagram famous who jet off somewhere exotic every other weekend. But let me reiterate
All That Glitters Is Not Gold
And with that being said the grass is greener where you water it. In order for us to achieve our hopes and aspirations there has to be sweat and tears. Nothing in this life is free. So you may not be where you want to be now, but with the right mindset you’ll have the means to make the grass as green as you please. Yes, occasionally, life may throw obstacles but I kid you not the hard graft will surely pay off in the end. It’s all about spending time to nurture your plans, growing within yourself and watching the fruits of your labour grow, grow, grow!
Equally, take some time out to appreciate the grass you stand on. Sometimes, we actually have more than enough, but our constant desire of wanting more allows us to forget this. You may actually find there is nothing wrong with your grass at all. Be proud of the things you have achieved to date. Sometimes the material things are actually immaterial, and you may find that Mercedes SL63 you worked so hard to buy wasn’t as fulfilling as you expected it to be.
All in all, be sure to water your immediate surroundings and in all things be blooming awesome 🌸🌷
